Mrs. Dorothy Ann Upshaw Bittick, 70, of Shreveport, passed away on Oct. 5, 2010, after a brief battle with stomach cancer.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7 at Osborn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8 in the Osborn chapel, with Ray Boswell officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Hickory Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Coushatta, Louisiana.
The first of seven siblings, Dorothy was born in Bienville on Sept. 4, 1940 to Earl Thomas and Erma True Upshaw. She married the love of her life, Willis Bittick, in 1984. Dorothy worked in the insurance business for 50 years, starting her career with Hartford Steam Boiler in Houston and finishing as a licensed agent with Boswell Insurance Agency in Shreveport.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Erma True; and her niece Carol Annette Cason.
She is survived by Willis, her husband of 26 years; her daughters, Elisa Ann Kitchings Caster and husband, Chet, of Martin; and Lora Lee Kitchings Robehmed and husband, John, of Plano, Texas; and Willis's children, Thomas Bittick and wife, Susan, of Austin, Texas; Elizabeth Dailey and husband, Mike, of Flower Mound, Texas; and Mary Camden and husband, Mike, of Shreveport. She is also survived by her siblings: Betty Klein of Shreveport; Donnie Upshaw and wife, Murriel, of Hickory Grove; Patsy Barnwell and husband, Jim, of Rockwall, Texas; Judy Lockey and husband Jimmy, of Hickory Grove; Wayne Upshaw and wife, Denise, of Hickory Grove; and Russell Upshaw of Shreveport.
Dorothy and Willis's extended family will continue to celebrate her life, including many nieces and nephews and their grandchildren: Christopher, James and Paula Caster; Fredrick, Isaac, Thomas and Jessica Robehmed; Sarah, Chad, Steve, and Rebecca Dailey; and Michael, Emily and Caroline Camden. Pallbearers will include Jim Barnwell, Rick Boswell, Rodger Cason Jr., Jimmy Lockey Sr., Jimmy Lockey Jr., and Gil McElroy.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Willis-Knighton and Promise Hospital in Bossier City for their care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
