Dies of Heart Failure. Dalton, July 7—Mrs. J. H. Baker, age 46, died suddenly at the family home near here Sunday night about nine o'clock. Mrs. Baker had been in her usual good health until a few minutes before her death. A short time after she had retired she complained of feeling badly and told her husband she was going to die. Death came as she was telling Mr. Baker to take care of the children. Burial was in the Stubblefield graveyard the following day. Mrs. Baker was the daughter of A. J. Upshaw, a prominent citizen of that community. Besides her husband, she leaves three children, one son and two daughters.
Mary Ann Baker, daughter of A. J. Upshaw, was born August 6, 1876, and died at her home near Dalton, July 5, 1925, with heart failure. Interment was made in the Stubblefield Cemetery with Rev. Sherill of Doniphan, Mo., in charge of services. She leaves a husband, J. H. Baker, father, two sisters, two brothers, a son, two daughters, and a host of friends to mourn her absence. The bereaved ones have our heartfelt sympathy. (both articles came from the Pocahontas Star Herald newspaper - July 9, 1925)
