Grace Lucille Underwood Stanley
Birth: Nov. 2, 1924
Gordon County
Georgia, USA
Death: Nov. 16, 2000
Hillsborough County
Florida, USA

Grace Lucille Underwood was born in Calhoun, Georgia in 1924 to Robert Walter Underwood and Maranda Kate Gravitt. She had four brothers: Hugh, Wallace, Harry & Fred, and five sisters: Effie, Anna Mae, Ruby, Margaret & Betty. Grace grew up in Georgia but she eventually moved to Florida with her husband and children. A good business woman, she owned several businesses over the years along with her husband Bill. They were self employed until they retired to Valrico, Florida. Grace was an avid quilt maker and at one time taught quilt making at the Baptist church where she was a member. Grace was a very good singer able to sing both Soprano and Tenor. In her younger days she sang harmony with her husband while he played the guitar at parties and family gatherings. Their love of music was handed down to their children and she often said some of her best times were when the "boys" got together to play and sing. The Lord called her home in 2000 at the age of 76 surrounded by her family and friends in her residence in Valrico, Florida. Grace Stanley was preceded in death by her husband Bill, son Jimmy, son Mickey and daughter-in-law Sylvia. She was survived by sons Danny, Billy, Johnny, Rockey and daughter Deborah as well as thirteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She always had a saying that "time changes everything" but the one thing that has never changed is how much she is missed.

Mom, I could never come up with the words to say how much I miss you. I think of you every day of my life. Heaven is so real to me now because I know you are waiting there for me. I'll see you as soon as the Lord allows. Love your daughter, Debbie

I know we didn't get to spend a lot of time together before you had to leave, but I wanted you to know I thought it was great the way you made me feel at home right from the start. Thanks for the warmth and kindness you showed. I miss your smiling face. ...(Read more)
