WESTPORT -- Palmer Beverley Uhl, 75, of Princeton, N.J., died Aug. 12, 2008, after a long illness. She was born Nov. 17, 1932, in Winchester, Va., the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Palmer) Beverley.
She graduated from St. Catherine's School in Richmond, Va., and from Bradford Junior College.
She is the beloved wife of 56 years of Harrison J. Uhl Jr. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Harrison J. Uhl III, William B. Uhl; a daughter, Palmer B. Uhl; daughter-in-law, Dorinda Uhl; and grandson William B. Uhl Jr.
She has been blessed with a close, loving family and dear friends for more than 50 years. The family came to Princeton, N.J., in 1957, after three years in the army. Upon arrival, she taught at All Saints Nursery School for over 10 years. For years, the family has spent summers at their home in Westport, N.Y., on Lake Champlain, where she and her husband met in 1949. Palmer came to love the place and was determined to get there this year and she did. She was an active and past member of the Garden Club of Princeton, the Present Day Club and Women's Investment Group.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Aug. 21, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepard in Elizabethtown, N.Y., and at the Trinity Church in Princeton Sept. 12. Details will be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the care of W.M. Marvin's Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
