Doris Ellen Trapp, 84, of 110 Elizabeth St., passed away peacefully Tuesday (March 3, 2009) at Elder Care where she had received personal and tremendously loving care for the past four years.
Born in Burlington, Conn., on July 27, 1924, the daughter of John and Mary Austin Twining, she had resided in Hornell, since 1968. Doris was retired from the Hornell School System in 2001 as a computer aide. She was a member of the Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, where she was involved in the youth group, and had played the piano and organ. Doris had been involved in the 4-H Club, but most of all she loved her family.
She was predeceased by her husbands Charles E. Minnick on May 20, 1956, and Edward Trapp on July 25, 1975; her step daughter, Jacqueline Farren in April 2000; her brother, David Twining; and grandson, Shawn Farren.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol (Dan) McCarthy of North Hornell, and Renata (George) Zaldivar of Arkport; son, Charles (Carol Ann) Minnick of Clarence; step-son, William (Ann Marie) Trapp of Cromwell, Conn.; her sister, Eunice Przybysz of Connecticut; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, Hornell NY with the Rev. Nathan Ruble officiating. Burial was in Knollkreg Memorial Park Cemetery, Abingdon, Va.
