"Services for Mrs. Carrie E. Pflaumer, 87, were held at the Presbyterian Church in Craig at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Blake Richter officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.

Carrie E. Pflaumer, youngest daughter of Solon and Mary Priscilla Twadell, was born November 16, 1895 near Skidmore and died Thursday morning, Nov. 11, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, where she had resided since April 26, 1982.

Carrie spent her early life near Skidmore, attended the Skidmore school and the Howard Payne College in Fayette. She then taught school near Skidmore and also in the Bigelow school.

In May, 1919, she was united in marriage to John Pflaumer and they spent the rest of their lives in the Craig community. They were the parents of two daughters, Mary Katherine Casteel of Craig, and Betty Jan Bishop of Leoti, Kans., who both survive. Other survivors include two grandsons, John J. Casteel of Gladstone and Kelly Bruce Bishop of Leoti, Kans., one sister-in-law, Madonna Pflaumer of St. Joseph, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1968.

Carrie was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Story Hardin Post No. 164: World War I Barracks of Holt County; the Cherry Dale Good Times Club, and was a member of the RNA Camp 4248, serving various offices in all of the organizations.

She was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church and served as teacher of the Queen Esther Class. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Music was provide by Dorothea Sharp, organist, and Betty Wennihan, who sang, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Ivory Palaces."

Pallbearers were John Joe Casteel, Allan Bunt, Steven Haer, Bill Bunt, Mark Caton, and Ronnie Haer."
