Elisabeth or "Lib" as she was known to so many in Greensboro, was born August 31, 1925 in Hollins, VA. She grew up in Roanoke, VA and following her passion for music graduated from from Westminister Choir College in Princeton, NJ with a Bachelor of Music Degree. Following her graduation, she became the Minister of Music at First Baptist Church of Morganton, NC; and then upon moving to Greensboro with her beloved husband, Dr. John William Allgood, she became the first Minister of Music at Christ United Methodist Church. She and John were also Charter Members of Christ United Methodist Church when it began in 1956.
Lib was a woman who always cared more for others than herself. Putting the work of Jesus into practice, she was a true disciple in caring for her family, friends, neighbors, and fellow church members. Her care and compassion will be missed by many but it will have benefited so many, many more.
She is survived by four children, three daughters, Beth Allgood-Justice (Stephen) of Tucker, GA; Martha Allgood Adams (Morgan) of Greensboro; Linda L. Allgood of Greensboro; and a son, John W. Allgood III of Brooklyn, NY; six grandchildren, Jonathan Adams (Jamie) of Greensboro; Joshua Adams (Hannah) of Greensboro; Camerin Watson (Sean) of Charlotte, NC; Matthew Adams (Morgan) of Greensboro; Maria Adams of Greensboro; and Corbin Allgood McKinnon of Tucker/Decatur, GA; six great-grandchildren, Morgan Adams, Leah Adams, Joshua Adams, Jonathan Adams, William Adams, and Samuel Adams. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. John William Allgood in 2001.
