Hoyt C. Turner, 89, passed away Monday, July 10, 2006, in Arlington.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Arlington Funeral Home. Burial: Parkdale Cemetery in Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Arlington Funeral Home.
Mr. Turner served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and then had a long and distinguished career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He retired in 1974 from the Southwestern Division in Dallas and was honored again in 1988 when he was inducted into the Southwestern Division's Gallery of Distinguished Employees. He was a charter member of the Fort Worth District Corps of Engineers and also served in the Galveston District from 1939 to 1950. He was a specialist in hydroelectric power planning on the regional and national levels. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Arlington.
Survivors: His wife of 66 years, Julia Evelyn Turner; daughter, Janice L. White of Montrose, Ala.; grandson, Christopher Jules White of Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Billie L. Lovelace of Fresno, Calif.; and his maternal aunt, Billie Jones of Tucson, Ariz.
