James Turner CHESAPEAKE
James Turner, 94, of the 200 block of Jones St., died July 21, 2005, at his home. A native of Wallaceton, Va., he was the widower of Bettie Turner. He retired as a supervisor from Norfolk Naval Air Station after 37 years. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church Crestwood, Chesapeake and Willow Grove Masonic Lodge No. 197, Chesapeake. Survivors include two brothers, Clifton Sawyer of Baltimore, Md., and Roosevelt Sawyer of Washington, D.C.; many nieces, nephews, including George Lamb Jr., great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends; and two caregivers, Ruth Albritton and Eleanor Jenkins. A funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in First Baptist Church Crestwood, Chesapeake with the Rev. A.B. Rodgers presiding. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake with Masonic honors. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon Monday. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
