Linda Avery, 72, Bismarck, died January 6, 2013, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Riverwood Baptist Church, 3030 S. Washington Street, Bismarck, with Pastor Todd Fuhrer officiating.

Visitation was Friday, January 11 at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Although she had a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis here on earth, she now has a new life and a new body in Heaven. Linda was born February 28, 1940, in Woodbine, Kansas, the daughter of Ole and Leila Turnbull. She attended high school in Junction City, Kansas. Linda married Charles Avery on December 20, 1956.

While raising their four children in Nebraska, Linda started her own upholstery business. Shortly thereafter, Charles and Linda moved to Bismarck in 1976. She was very active in her church and was always eager to share the love of Jesus Christ with whomever she could.

Because Charles had a long career in the United States Air Force, he and Linda lived in many different states including Arizona, Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Nebraska. But her favorite place was southern Missouri where she and Charles always dreamed of retiring. They built a second home on Tablerock Lake near Branson, Missouri in 2009, and would take frequent trips to their lake home in their recreational vehicle.

Linda is survived by her husband, Charles; their daughters, Debbie (Lowell) Porter, Greeley, CO, Pam Mathis, Bismarck, Carla (Shane) Hagerott, Longmont, CO; their son, Gary (Susan) Avery, Lincoln, NE; five grandchildren, Clinton, Johnathan and Elizabeth Avery and Bethany and James Hagerott; one brother, Clifford Turnbull, Woodbury, MN; and one sister, Edith Ayres, Burr Oak, KS.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Leila Turnbull; father, Ole Turnbull; stepmother, Sylvia Wickham McVaugh Turnbull; brother, Willard Turnbull; two stepbrothers, Frank and Denny McVaugh; grandson, Garrison Avery; and dear friend, Dixie Pearson, Bismarck.
