A retired clerk for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, she died at 2:05 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Denham Springs. She was 85, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of McAlester, Okla. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Friday, Aug. 19, from 1 p.m. until chapel service at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Pastor Ron Turner. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James D. "Duke" and Judy Tunnard; two daughters-in-law, Patsy Sibley Tunnard and Suzanne Daries; and five grandchildren, Blake Tunnard, Tandi Tunnard, Chad Tunnard, Gabe Tunnard and Tommy Roy. Preceded in death by her husband, James D. Tunnard Jr.; son, Walter Keith "Flap" Tunnard; and parents, Joe and Lenny Colvin. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and Greg Gaudin and E.J. Daigle. Honorary pallbearer is Gary "Rock" Rockford. She was a member of Elks Lodge and Telephone Pioneers of America. Memorial donations may be made to Life Source Hospice, 3049 S. Sherwood Forest Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70816. The family would like to thank Life Source Hospice and Golden Age Nursing Home for the care given to Mrs. Tunnard.
