Lewis was preceded in death by his parents Lewis Henry Tuggle Jr. and Janie Josephine Sanders Tuggle. Lewis was a 1974 graduate of Virginia Tech, with a BS in Political Science. He attended graduate school at Southern Illinois University where he received his MS in Urban Affairs and Policy Analysis. Most recently he received his MS in Psychology from Capella University, where he was also studying for a PhD in Psychology. Lewis had many rewarding careers throughout his life, including working on numerous Presidential and Statewide campaigns. He was a lobbysit for the Florida Soft Drink Association, and most recently, a Professor of Psychology for the American Military Institute, where he also continued his own education. Lewis was adventurous and had traveled the world; he had lived in Alaska, Florida, Louisiana, Nebraska, Illinois and the Washington, D.C. area before returning to Saltville in 2001 to care for his mother who suffered from Alzheimer's. He enjoyed sharing memories with her and making her life comfortable. Lewis was an avid Virginia Tech Hokie fan and enjoyed tailgating with family and friends. He is survived by three brothers: David Edwin Tuggle and wife Suzanne, Radford, VA; Charles Donald "Chuck" Tuggle and wife Margaret, Saltville, VA; Curtis Allen Tuggle, Saltville, Va; niece Kayla Beth Tuggle, Arlington, VA; nephew Jason Tuggle and wife Amber, Saltville, VA; great-niece Presley Victoria Tuggle, Saltville, Va. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Jonas and Rev. Scott Spence officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Lewis Tuggle. D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville, VA is serving the Tuggle family.
