IRWINTON - Zelda Tucker Akins, 88 of Asbell St. died Wednesday in Macon.
Services will be held Friday August 29, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Irwinton Baptist Church. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Brushy Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Ocilla, GA. Rev. Bob Murphy will officiate.
Mrs. Akins was born in Ocilla, GA the daughter of the late James B. and Amanda Mixon Tucker. She was the widow of the late William Berman Akins. Mrs. Akins was an educator for 26 years and taught economics in Sylvester, Moultrie and Dublin, and also taught in Wilkinson County for twenty two years. She was a member of the Irwinton Baptist Church and was active in the Women’s Missionary Organization. She was preceded in death by a brother, Eulas Tucker; daughter-in-law, Becky Akins; sister and brother-in-law Evelyn and Edgar Saunderson; and three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; John L. Akins, James I. and Mary Emma Akins, and Harold Akins and Sybil Akins.
Survivors include; two daughters and sons-in-law, and two sons and daughter-in-law, 12’ grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donations may be made to the Irwinton Baptist Church, the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home or the American Cancer Society.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
