Lynn Tucker Bartosik died on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, of complications from cancer. She was born on Sept. 11, 1946, to Mary Thompson Tucker and Robert Leonard Tucker in Birmingham, Ala. Her many varied work interests included: social worker for Alabama Crippled Children's Service, medical social worker for the U.S. Army, social worker for the Fairfax County Child Protective Services, antiques dealer, corporate recruiter and artist (Modern Art).
Lynn was a truly loving mother, grandmother and friend to all that she knew and met. An intensely curious person, she excelled at her many varied interests whether it was recruiting professional staff, decorating, antiques, framing, decoupage, or art. She studied art at the Corcoran in Washington, D.C., under William Christenberry and later with John Blee of Washington, D.C. She was a member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Burke, Va., and when she was at her beach home in Seagrove Beach, Fla., she regularly attended services at Christ the King Episcopal Church in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.
She married Harry J Bartosik on March 27, 1971, while he was attending the University of Alabama for a graduate degree. During the rest of his career in the Army, Lynn lived in Fort Knox, Ky., Fort Leavenworth, Kan., Schweinfurt, Germany, Stuttgart, Germany, and various locations in Virginia. Her husband, Harry; son, James (Jeb); grandchildren, Kristin and Jonathon; and her mother, Mary Tucker Davis, survive her. She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Leonard Tucker; her sisters, Martha Jean Tucker and Robin Victoria Tucker.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 480 North County Highway 393, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459. A viewing will be held at 10 a.m., the funeral service at 11 a.m. and the burial at about noon, at Gulf Cemetery on South County Highway 393, Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Following the burial there will be a reception for family and friends at the Santa Rosa Golf and Beach Club, 4801 W. County Highway 30A, Santa Rosa Beach, FL.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Twin Cities Funeral Home, Niceville, Fla. Flowers are being provided by Botaniq, Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. (850-368-7471) (www.santarosabeachflorist.com). In lieu of flowers, donations in the name of Lynn Bartosik may be made to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter Trust Fund (703-830-1100).
