Herman Houston Tucker, 72, of Hickory Wythe, TN, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011.

He was a graduate of Bartlett High School and was supervisor at S.C. Toof Engraving Company for over 40 years. Herman was known as a master of his craft and was highly respected in his field. After retirement, he drove for the Bette Bus until 2003. Herman was a devout family man and was loved by everyone his life touched. He was a lover and protector of all animals. Herman was a drag racing fan and spent many hours racing his '63 Dodge at Lakeland Motorsports Park in the 1960's. He also loved riding his Yamaha Vmax.

Mr. Tucker, the loving husband of Barbara Wilburn Tucker for 55 years, also leaves a son and daughter in law, Houston Craig and Dana Tucker of Hickory Wythe; sisters and brother in law, Sandra Peters of Oakland, TN and Bonnie and Robert Wilburn of Bartlett; brothers and sisters in law, Richard and Debbie Tucker of Shepherdsville, KY, Rodney and Brenda Tucker of Bartlett and Tim and Sandy Tucker of Luray, TN. Herman was beloved "Granddaddy Hermie" to McKenna, Collin, Kye and Kannon Breeze Tucker. Preceding him in death was a brother in law, Tommy Peters and two brothers, Alvin and Tommy Tucker.

The family will receive friends this evening, Thursday, July 7 from 5-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. Funeral services will be Friday afternoon, July 8, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with interment to follow in Memorial Gardens, formerly Memory Hill Gardens.
