NASCHITTI — Funeral services for Andrew Tsosie, Sr., 49, will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 13 at the Naschitti Christian Reformed Church. Pastor Corwin Brummel will officiate. Burial will be held in the Naschitti Community Cemetery.
Tsosie died Aug. 8. He was born January 8, 1955 in Naschitti into the Towering House People Clan/Salt Water Clan for the Comanche-Cheyenne, Ute People Clan.
Tsosie attended Naschitti Public School, Albuquerque Indian School, Tohatchi High School and he graduated from Intermountian Indian School in 1975. He went to electronic technicians trade school in Long Beach, Calif. He was employed with Universal Construction, Inc., Gallup Communications Center Support Services, Coyote Canyon Rehabilitation Center and Canyon Roofing, Phoenix. At the time of his death he was self employed. Tsosie enjoyed sandpainting, horseback riding, playing guitar, camping, country/western music, taking pictures, and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his sons, Andrew Zachariah Tsosie, Jr. of Fraser, Colo., Leon Tom, Andrew "Jo Jo" Tom both of Fort Defiance; daughters, Chervey Leigh Tsosie of Coyote Canyon, Tamira Tom, Tanna Tom both of Fort Defiance; parents, Joseph T. Tsosie, Esther B. Tsosie of Naschitti; brothers, Calvin, Joseph, Terry, Andy Tsosie, Norman Sorrell all of Naschitti; sisters, Ethelyn "Lena" Rodriguez of Manteca, Calif., Thelma Tsosie of Gallup, Sophia, Selma, and Esther Lou Tsosie all of Naschitti, Carolyn Sorrell of Naschitti, Jackie, Evelyn Sorrell of Phoenix; and three grandchildren.
Tsosie was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Tsosie and Edmund Becenti; grandmothers, Helen Tsosie and Kasbah Bowman.
Pallbearers will be Calvin Tsosie, Norman Sorrell, Terry Tsosie, Terrance Tsosie, Andrew Tsosie, Jr., Eugene Denetdale, Joseph Tsosie, Jr., and Andy Tsosie.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Naschitti Chapter House.
