Jean Marie Truman, 85, Independence, Mo., passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006. at the Monterey Park Nursing Center.
Mrs. Truman was born on Dec. 8, 1920. to Merrill and Florence Cate in Perry, Iowa. She had been a service officer for the Department of Missouri American Legion retiring in 1983. She had also been a licensed Cosmetician for many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, spending time with her family and helping others in need. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a lifetime member of the DAV Auxiliary. Mrs. Truman was preceded in death by her husband, Max Truman, in 1996, and a son, John Blevins, in 2004.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Thomas and Pat Truman of Independence, and Robert and Marianne Truman of Lee's Summit, Mo.; a daughter, Nancy Young and husband, Robert, of Independence; a daughter-in-law, Shari Blevins of Council Bluffs, Iowa; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, Independence, (816) 252-7900. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
