Homemaker Lucy Herrera, 70, of Raton, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012, in Raton. She was born Jan. 14, 1942, in Capulin, the daughter of Daniel and Tomasita Trujillo. Lucy was a homemaker, and a member of St. Patrick's-St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Raton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene, brothers Cayatano and Albert Trujillo, sisters Annie Martinez and Alexandria Rael.
Lucy is survived by three daughters, JoAnn Ortiz and husband Larry of Colorado Springs, Colo., Clara Mares and husband Anthony of Raton, and Rosemary Lucero and husband John of Raton; two sisters, Ramos Trujillo and husband Nasario of Raton and Helen Herrera and husband John of Raton; two brothers, Richard Trujillo of Raton and Robert Trujillo and wife Stella of Raton; special nephew Miguel Herrera of Raton; six grandchildren, Casey Ortiz, Cassandra Allen, Nicole Mares, Breannalynn Lucero and Manualray Lucero; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Tuesday, April 10, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's-St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Raton Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10 a.m. with Father Daniel Balizan as the celebrant. Rite of Christian Burial will be in the Fairmont Cemetery.
