George had worked for the railroads in Chicago just prior to coming to Washington, D.C in 1898. Soon thereafter he was made the IRS agent in charge of the Baltimore, Md. office. By 1908 he was placed in charge of all IRS agents. Later on, he took charge of offices in Pittsburgh, then Philadelphia, and finally Indianapolis before he returned back to D.C. in 1918. From there he specialized in tax work until he retired in 1929.
He left 2 daughters, Mrs. Walter Kuhlmey of Chicago and Mrs. Frank F. Nesbit. Also 1 son, William Scott Trowbridge of Battle Creek, Michigan.
Note: at some point in time (around Jan. 2001), both he and his wife were moved to Michigan, in conjunction with the planned demolition of the Abbey Mausoleum, Arlington, Virginia, by the U.S. Dept of Defense.
