Mary Lucille Bishop, age 92, of Lee's Summit, formerly of Versailles, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011, at Wilshire at Lakewood in Lee's Summit. She was born June 27, 1919, in Versailles, the daughter of the late Charles and Grace Bales Troutman.
On October 5, 1939, she was united in marriage to John L. Bishop, who preceded her in death on March 17, 2005. Together they shared 65 years of marriage.
Lucille was the kitchen manager and head cook for the Morgan County R-II School system for over 50 years. The cafeteria was dedicated as the Lucille Bishop Cafeteria in honor of her many years of service. Her homemade meals, hot bread and cinnamon rolls were enjoyed by the teachers and students for many years. Because of her love and dedication, she holds a special place in the hearts of many.
She was a member of the Versailles First Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing.
She is survived by her son, J.C. Bishop of Oak Grove, MO; her daughter, Marsha Trent and husband Dan of Lee's Summit, MO; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Joe Troutman and wife Necia of Versailles; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Francis Troutman and Dorsey Troutman, and her sister, Lurah Marriott.
