CUNNINGHAM POINT CLEAR, AL Susan Trotter Cunningham, 70, of Point Clear, Alabama, passed away following a brief illness on Sunday, February 10, 2013. Susan was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and a dear friend to countless people. To those many people fortunate to cross her path, Susan was truly an ambassador of living life to the fullest and would light up any room simply with her presence. She never met a stranger who was not quickly a friend. Considering that Susan was elected beauty queen in both high school and college, her physical beauty was overshadowed only by the peerless inner beauty of her genuine, and infectious, personality and her ever-present voice. Susan was a huge advocate of all sports and loved watching both her family and "extended family" perform, as she was unquestionably the biggest and most vocal fan to each. Though she was successfully active in real estate for several decades, taking care of her family and friends was her true specialty. She forever put others' needs ahead of her own and took joy in being of service to others. Susan was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, graduated from Tuscaloosa High School and the University of Alabama. Mrs. Cunningham was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Clyde C. Trotter, her husband of 11 years, James Vincent McConnell, Jr., and her husband of 28 years, Robert T. Cunningham, Sr. She is survived by her brother Courtney Trotter and sister-in-law, Irene, two beloved sons, James Vincent McConnell, III (Lynn) and Mitchell Trotter McConnell (Clare), her granddaughter, Mia, and her six "bonus" grandchildren, Christopher, Graham, MaryClair, Jackson, Andy and Katie Todd. Though we are comforted only in knowing she is at Home with our Lord and Savior Jesus, Susan's loving, uplifting presence will be unspeakably missed here by her family and countless other men, women, and children. Everyone touched by her knows her Christ-like influence and spirit lives on. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013, at 2:00 pm, at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Fairhope, Alabama. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm until service time. Interment will be at Memory Gardens of Fairhope. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to The Haven at PO Box 1063 Fairhope, AL 36533 www.havenforanimals.org After the service, family and friends are invited to further celebrate Susan's life at the home of Vince and Lynn McConnell, 311 Cumberland Road, Fairhope, Alabama.
