Father Trobec was born in Slovenia, when it was a part of Austria. He was ordained to the priesthood on August 15, 1900, by his uncle, Bishop James Trobec, then bishop of St. Cloud. He was made pastor at McCauleyville in September, 1901, and after being there a few months went to St. Stephen where he remained. He built the church there in 1903.
Surviving are: Rev. Joseph Trobec in Elk River; Sister Aquen of the Notre Dame order, in Milwaukee; Mrs. Frank Oman, Frank Trobec, St. Stephen; Jacob and Blase Trobec in Jugoslavia. Rev. Edwin Oman at the St. Cloud hospital is a nephew and Rev. Bernard Ambrozic OFM of Chicago, a cousin.
