Cecil E. Trickey, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at Cape Girardeau Residential Care Center.

He was born Dec. 19, 1920 at Charleston, son of Carl and Collie Abernathy Trickey. He and Freances Queen were married Oct. 5, 1945. She died Dec. 15, 1992.

Trickey worked for the Burlington Railroad, and then worked for Branif Airways from 1946 until retiring in 1982. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1992 from Texas. He attended Wesley United Methodist Church at Fruitland.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-45, and received eight Bronze Stars. His participation included North Africa, D-Day, and Battle of the Bulge.

Survivors include two sons, Tyler Trickey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, James Trickey of Lenexa, Kan.; a daughter, Susan Meneke of St. Charles; a sister, Mildred Watkins of Jackson; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Richard Combs will officiate. Burial will be in McLain Chapel Cemetery.
