Marjorie Jane Bowman, a native of Yuba City, passed away on Thursday, August 8th after a long illness. She was 80 years old. Marjorie, or "Marty" as her friends knew her, was born in 1933 to Dr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Tredway. Dr. Tredway was a long time dentist in Yuba City. Marty attended local schools, graduating from Notre Dame Academy in Marysville. In 1954 she married Bert D. Brock and they had 5 children. The late Bert Brock was a former Assistant District Attorney of Sutter County. After Bert's passing in 1977, Marty then married James "Jim" Bowman of Marysville, who had 3 sons from a previous marriage. Marty was a devout Catholic who was very involved at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Yuba City. She sang in the church choir for many years. Marty also loved to bowl, play cards, attend bunco and pinochle parties, and attend Scottish Rites games at different locations with her husband Jim. She had a very close circle of friends. She had trained as a nurse and a court reporter, and was a librarian, administrative assistant and sometimes crossing guard for many years for the Sutter County School District including Yuba City High School, Gray Avenue School, King Avenue School and Feather River Academy among others. Marty was know by her friends and family to be a loving, kind, and giving person who always had a positive attitude. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her identical twin sister, Sister Jeanette Marie Tredway and her brother John Tredway. She is survived by her husband Jim, to whom she was married for 35 years, a sister Mary Ann Bollerud (Don), her children and step-children: Steve Brock (Patti), Scott Brock (Eliza), Susan Brock (Terry), John Brock (Carol), Sharon Robinson (John), Jessie Bowman, and Daniel Bowman (Heather). She had 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Isidore Church on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM, followed by graveside services at Sutter Cemetery. A Rosary will be held Thursday evening August 15th at 6:00 PM at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond St., Yuba City, CA
