Rachel Trask Beall died Sunday evening, July 23, 2006, surrounded by family members at Greenwood Assisted Living of Butte.
Rachel Elaine was born Oct. 31, 1918, in Deer Lodge, the fourth of 10 children born to Frank and Cora (Nichols) Trask. Rachel was raised in Deer Lodge and graduated from Powell County High School in 1936; she continued her education at Montana State University, which is now University of Montana in Missoula, graduating with a bachelor of arts degree in business administration in 1941. While attending college, she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.
On July 8, 1946, she married Dean F. Beall in Deer Lodge. They lived in Deer Lodge before moving to Anaconda in 1951, where Dean worked and later purchased the Gimble Lumber Yard, becoming Beall's Building Center.
Rachel was a very much-loved wife and mother of three daughters. She was a very active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church of Anaconda, serving in the Guild and Chapter T, P.E.O. She enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid reader.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers are requested to St. Mark's Episcopal Church of Anaconda.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dean of Butte; daughter, Susan Beall of Moses Lake, Wash., her daughter, Ann and husband, Jesse Broersma; daughter, Catherine "Kitty" and husband, Charlie Thorne of Missoula, their daughters, Jessica and husband, Kyle Johnson, and Libby and husband, Robb Latrielle; daughter, Joan and husband, Randy Beckham of Racetrack, and her children, Shawn, Nicholas and Philip Moorman; great-grandson, Austin; sisters, Helen Tobin, Margaret Maitin, Nancy and husband, David Tyrell; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frank Jr., John, and Marvin; sisters, Cora Robert, Ethel Dart and Ruth Labbe.
Rachel lived at least 60 years with multiple sclerosis. Her strong faith in Jesus Christ gave her a quiet determination to endure this disease with grace and dignity.
Services and cremation are under the care of KT Riddle Funeral Homes, Anaconda.
