Betty L. Allwood, 80, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Allwood. She is survived by her daughter, Mitzi Euell and husband Billy; son, Perry Allwood and wife Beth; grandchildren, Brad Euell, Laura Euell, Connor Allwood, and Parker Allwood; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Following graduation from Fair Grove High School, Betty attended Draughon's Business College and worked as a legal secretary for many years. But the job she loved most was being a devoted and loving wife and mother. She will long be remembered for her courage, sassiness, independence, kindness, and most of all her "sense of homer!" Phrases such as "good grief Gertie," "right as rain," and "that's right Ralph" are now forever ingrained in the language of her family and friends. There are many others too but continuing would just be "wasting sweetness on the desert air" as she would say.
Per her wishes, Betty's remains will be buried at Greenlawn Cemetery next to Jim's following a simple private graveside service.
