Catherine Flammer Fischer, 94, passed away in Scottsdale, Arizona, Wednesday, December 10, 2014. Born August 5, 1920 in Westfield, New Jersey, to Henry P. Townsend and Anna Townsend. Catherine was the oldest of eleven children. She attended Holy Trinity Grammar School and Holy Trinity High School in Westfield, NJ. Catherine married John Vernon Flammer in 1947 and together they had six children. Catherine led an active life. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Worked for her father at Townsend Moving Company and then for her husband's company, Flammer Brothers and Sons. Catherine was friendly and outgoing. She loved playing cards with her many girlfriends and in her later years enjoyed golf. Catherine was lucky enough to find great love twice in her life. In 1992 she met her second husband Herbert Fischer. They spent much of their time playing golf, enjoying the company of friends and traveling. Catherine is survived by her sister Margaret Triano, brother Robert Townsend and her five children, Dianne Flammer, Douglas Flammer, Jeffery Flammer, Thomas Flammer and Marykay Campbell, thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. We would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers of Caring For Loved Ones who did an amazing job of taking care of our Mother with gentleness, kindness and dignity. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30AM, Friday, December 19, 2014, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 11300 N. 64th St., Scottsdale.
