Dorine Lillian Byrd, age 71, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Dorine was born August 20, 1935 in Huntington Park, California, daughter of the late Luther Dibbs Totten and Minnie Dorine Smith Totten. In addition to her parents, Dorine was preceded in death by four brothers. Mr. and Mrs. Byrd spent most of their married lives living in southern California until 1987 when moved back to Darrel Deans childhood area of Joplin. Dorine was a lover of older movies, Big Band Music, and spending time with her family. When you walked into her home, you walked into her photo album of memories. She will be remembered for the great love she showed her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Darrel Dean Byrd whom she married May 12, 1951 in Las Vegas, NV; two sons, Ray Dean Byrd of Joplin, Robert Darrel Byrd of Kansas City, MO; daughter, Teresa Barrett of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Shirley Woodruff, Kelly Perez, Michelle Dotson, Joshua Cowan, Dorine Byrd, Brandy Simmons, Ray Dean "Deaner" Byrd, Jr., Amber Lynn Byrd, Joshua Robert Byrd, and Justin Robert Byrd; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow in Park Cemetery, Carthage, MO with family serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Monday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
