Candelaria Torres, 92, of Costilla passed away on March 3, 2011. She served in the spiritual Order of the Carmelitas and Guadalupanas, recipient of a "Taos County's Living Treasure Award", Los Bailadores del Norte Club and head cook at the Costilla Elementary School. She is preceded in death by her husband, Zacarias Torres, her parents, Clemente and Gabina Mascarenas, son in law, Carlos Trujillo, her siblings, Jessie and Rudy Mascarenas, Elva Maes and Dolores Martinez.

She is survived by her children, Helena Reaves (Asa) of California, Andy Torres (Carmen) of Taos, Tina Trujillo of Albuquerque, Bernie Torres (Gladys) of Costilla, Natalie Herrera (Anthony) of California, Julian Torres (Dora) of Costilla, Dennis Torres of Costilla and Lucille Long (Pat) of Albuquerque, 16 grandchildren ,24 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Rosary will be recited on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 6:30 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Costilla. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Costilla with interment to follow at the Amalia Cemetery.
