(March 14, 1932 - February 2, 2013)

LOIS C. JOHNSON, 80, of Cleghorn, Iowa, passed away Saturday morning, February 2, 2013, surrounded by her family at her daughter's home in Milford, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, February 5th, at 11 a.m. from the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Rev. Kathy Wicks will officiate. Burial will be in the Meriden Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be on Monday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Lois was born on March 14, 1932 at Hardy, Iowa to Joseph and Sophie (Kleveland) Torkelson. She attended school in Gilmore City and graduated from Bode High School in 1950. She played basketball in high school and in her senior year they played Meriden for the state championship and Meriden won that year. She was married to Delbert H. Johnson on October 6, 1951 at Bode, Iowa. She worked at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute and she cleaned houses around the Cherokee area. In 1966 she became the Fuller Brush sales person and she was still working two weeks before her death. She was affiliated with the Lutheran Church. Lois enjoyed quilting, baking, crocheting, playing cards, gambling on her favorite machine, the Queen of Atlantis. She was a longtime resident of Cleghorn, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Delbert on June 10, 2000, a son Dennis on July 6, 2010, a brother John Torkelson, two great granddaughters Gentry and Chloe.

She is survived by her children: Sue (Tom) Dilocker of Jamestown, North Dakota; Janelle (Tim) Schlenger of Washta, Iowa; Tammy (John) Wittkamp of Milford, Iowa; a daughter-in-law Loretta Johnson of Spencer, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren and one more great granddaughter on the way; 1 great great grandchild; one sister: Janet (Donald "Don") Hacker of Hancock, Minnesota; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
