Major League Baseball Player. Known as the “Earl of Snohomish”, he played Major League baseball as a first baseman for fifteen seasons (1947 to 1961) with the Boston Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees. He was a member of the 1948 Braves team that wont the National League Pennant, then lost to the Cleveland Indians in the World Series, and a member of the 1959 White Sox team that won the American League Pennant and lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Series. He led the National League in Runs with 120 in 1950.
