Edythe Childress, 80, died Friday at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital, Superior. Services were Monday at Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel, Superior, with the Rev. Ken Fairbrother officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
Childress, daughter of Sidney and Dolie Nelms Torbert, was born Aug. 11, 1914, at Hastings, Okla. She was educated in the public schools there.
She was united in marriage Feb. 17, 1940, to Orval Childress at Duncan, Okla. They moved to a farm in the Beulah community where they lived 45 years. She was making her home in Superior at the time of her death.
She was a lifetime member of Church of Christ, a member of Beulah Missionary Society, PTA, and Alban 4-H Club.
Childress was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son, Billy Ray Wood; and two sisters; Lois Wren and Bess Rule.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Frank Fleming (Betty), Colorado Springs, Colo., Mrs. Bill Befort (Beverley), Lebanon; a sister, Smidge Whitsell, Duncan, Okla.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Megrue-Price Funeral Home, Superior, was in charge of the arrangements.
