Mrs. John Walsh and Her Brother, George Toon, Killed in a Head-on Collision in Michigan
What promised to be a pleasureable sojurn on the Gaspe peninsula on Canada's eastern coast ended in double tragedies for two well-known Southeast residents this week.
Solemn requiem mass was held for Mrs. John Walsh, 28 years old, and her brother, George Toon, 38, in the St. Cyril Church, 64th Street and Dante Avenue.
The two were killed and their sister, Kathleen Toon, 25, was injured when their automobile collided with another on the highway 15 miles west of Ann Arbor, Mich., late Saturday night. The trio had started out for a fortnight's vacation at the Canadian resort.
Mrs. Walsh died in St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. Mr. Toon was killed instantly. Their sister was taken to the St. Joseph Hospital suffering a broken hand and numerous cuts.
Mr. Toon was a certified public accountant. He was not married. Besides Kathleen Toon the two are survived by a brother, Robert Toon, and their mother, Mrs. Mary Toon. Mrs. Walsh is survived by her husband.
