BIG STONE GAP, Va. — Edith Mae Gibson Toney, 94, entered into eternal rest Thursday (May 28, 2009) at Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital, Big Stone Gap, Va.
She was born in Stickleyville, Va. to the late Arlin and Minnie Jones Gibson. She lived most of her life in Big Stone Gap, Va. and was a lifelong member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Big Stone Gap, Va. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, and two grandchildren, two brothers, and four sisters.
Surviving are six sons, Andy Toney, John Toney, Eddie Toney, Joe Toney, Jr. all of Big Stone Gap, Va., David Toney of Batavia, Ohio, and Fred Toney of Coeburn, Va.; three daughters, Bernice Noumoff of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary Freeman and husband, Mac of Villa Hills, Ky., Shirley Noonan of Loveland, Ohio; 17 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and on great great grandchild; brother, Charles Gibson and wife Jean of Pinellas Park, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; many loving friends and neighbors.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Roy A. Green Funeral Home.
Funeral mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday (June 1, 2009) at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Les and Father Tim Drake officiating.
Entombment will follow in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
