Rose Marie Brewer, 75, of Lebanon passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday surrounded by a loving family here on Earth, as she was reunited in Heaven with loved ones that went on to their reward before her.
Rose Marie Tollett was born in Wright City, Okla., the daughter of Henry John Tollett and Lillie Ophelia (Ridge) Tollett. During her childhood years the family resided in the Wright City area, where Rose attended grammar school and cultivated many lifelong friendships. She enjoyed riding and helping her father train horses, also assisting her mother in activities such as gardening, canning and raising chickens. She missed her many relatives and dear friends when the family left Oklahoma circa 1952 and headed west to Oregon, settling in the Lebanon area, where she completed her high school education.
On Aug. 22, 1953, Rose Marie Tollett married Orion (O.C.) Brewer in Lebanon, with the newlyweds making their first home in Sweet Home, where O.C. was employed at the time. Rose was a homemaker the first few years of married life, but in 1966 she graduated from the Albany College of Beauty, passed the rigorous State Cosmetic Therapy Board examination, and became a licensed beauty operator. Rose worked as a beautician in various shops around Lebanon including Beauty Chalet and the Hair Port; the latter of which she eventually purchased and operated successfully for many years.
Rose resided in the Lebanon area most of her adult life, pursuing hobbies such as hunting, camping, gardening, canning vegetables for the family, and like her Momma before her, catching fish. But most of all she enjoyed being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt while spending time with her family and friends. Rose was a longtime member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Lebanon, was baptized there as a young woman, and maintained a deep and unwavering faith in God throughout her life.
Rose is survived by her husband of 56 years, Orion C. Brewer of Lebanon; son Rick Brewer and wife Sharon of Lebanon; daughter Teresa Brewer and life partner Terrance Bryant of Aloha; and grandchildren Athena Huschka of Aurora, Colo., Dwight Covington of Gresham, Zachary Brewer of Eugene, Kristen DuBois of Beaverton, Dustin Brewer of Lebanon, Christopher Brewer stationed in Iraq and Michael Brewer of Lebanon. Rose's great-grandchildren are Haley and Devin Huschka, Maddisun Bilderain, Kylee, Peighton and Spencer DuBois, Caleb Brewer and Alana Brewer. She was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and outlaws, friends, and her dog Ernie, all of whom she was very fond.
Rose was preceded in death by her daddy, Henry J. Tollett in 1995; momma Lillie O. Tollett in 1997; and beloved son Andrew Lamont "Monte" Brewer in 1997.
Viewing will be from 1 to 4 p.m Sunday at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. A service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Huston-Jost Funeral Home, conducted by Pastors Ronnie Moore and Garland Rogers, followed by a short graveside service at the IOOF Cemetery north of Lebanon. All of Rose's friends and relatives are invited to attend a celebration of her life being hosted by the Trinity Baptist Church, 72 East Elmore St. in Lebanon, immediately following the graveside service.
Please make any memorial contributions to Evergreen Hospice and/or the Lebanon Dialysis Center, sent in care of Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant St., Lebanon, OR 97355. Rose appreciated the dignity and respect she was shown by the people in these organizations, and was very grateful for their help.
