James (Vaclav) Tollar was born in what was Bohemia, immigrated to the United States arriving on 16 July 1903. Son of Joseph Tollar and Barbara Kesl. 1st wife, Mary died about 1912 and is thought to be buried at Rib Falls Lutheran cemetery in an unmarked grave. They had 5 children: James, Martin, Anna, Mary & Sophie. He married 2nd widow Katherine Hornug and had four children: Joseph R., Arthur P., Evelyn (Zimbauer) and Dorothy (Marose). He worked in the logging camps in Marathon County. His tombstone shows he was born in 1874 but church records for Nebilovy, Czechoslovakia (formerly Bohemia) shows his birth date as 24 Aug 1871. Also,his parents names on the death certificate were incorrect per the church records.
