Oweta grew up and attended schools in Ashland and graduated from Ashland High School. She married Gail Capehart on Jan. 8, 1942, in Ashland. She was a homemaker all of her life and was a member of the Ashland Church of Christ. She passed away at Valley View Hospital in Ada at the age of 85. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Mary Capehart, of Ashland; a sister and brother-in-law, O'Conita and Lewis Thetford, of Tulsa; granddaughter and spouse, Dena and Jimmy Williams, of McAlester; great-granddaughters, Alexandria Williams, of McAlester, Gabrielle Williams, of McAlester. And, a niece and friend, Debbie Shackleford and Karl Smith, of Tulsa; a niece and spouse, Kaila and Ron Smith, of Tulsa; two great-nieces, Rachel Alexander, of Tulsa, Renae Alexander, of Tulsa, and a very special friend, Ruby Smart, of McAlester. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Nerva Tolbert, and her husband, Gail Capehart. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Brother Dan Mappus officiating. Burial will be at Pryor Cemetery, Stuart, under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. Pallbearers include Carl Ketcherside, Dee Smart, Harvey Smart, J.T. Bain, Ron Smith, Karl Smith and Harold Williams.
