NORMAN A. TKACH, 80, died Sunday at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego. Born in Streator, Ill., the Rev. Tkach lived in Cherry Valley eight years. Previously he lived in Banning 24 years. He was a Roman Catholic priest for 20 years at several parishes, including St. Mary's Catholic Church on the Morongo Indian Reservation.
The Rev. Tkach served as a chaplain in the U.S. Army and attained the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was a veteran of World War II and the Vietnam War.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at San Gorgonio Catholic Church in Banning. Interment will be in Riverside National Cemetery. Weaver Mortuary in Beaumont is handling arrangements.
