|Birth: ||Jun. 13, 1815|
|Death: ||Jun. 3, 1896|
Died, June 3d, 1896, Mrs. Mary Adams, mother of W.R. and Nelson Adams. She was the daughter of John W. Timmons of Madison county, Ohio, and was born June 13th, 1815. Had she lived 10 days longer she would have been eighty-three years old. September 3d, 1834, she was married to Peter Adams, and to them were born ten children. Two died in infancy and eight were reared to womanhood and manhood. One was killed in a railroad accident April 6th, 1878; another died July 10, 1878, from the effects of wounds received in the union army; her husband, Peter Adams, died March 6th 1894, in his eighty-fourth year. She gave five sons to the union army, which to her, at that time, with her horror of war, was as complete a sacrifice upon the altar of her country, as was the offering of Isaac by Abraham, and as in his case the offering was accepted and her sons spared.
Early in life the deceased gave her heart to God and united with the M.E. church, and ever lived a faithful member and consistent christian. Her life was one of self-sacrifice and devotion to her family and to God, fully exemplifying the greatest of all the christian graces, Charity. With a life replete with faithful service she came down to life's end like a full shock of corn, ready for the garner; and with simple faith and loving trust she peacefully and joyfully passed to her reward, leaving to all who knew her memories of a faithful life and triumphant death as an inspiration to noble deeds and better lives.
