Fred Timmerman was raised by William & Elizabeth (Sollman) Otte after his mother died when he was just short of 3 years old and his father died when he was nearly 6 years old.
An older half-brother, Henry John (1853 - 1924), was raised by Diedrich Harjehausen and his wife, Anna Maria Kuhlman (probably his aunt & uncle) and lived at Kettlersville, Ohio.
Fred died of burns received when his clothing caught fire as he was lighting his pipe. He lived at 225 N. Herman St. in New Bremen.
