Christopher Tiffany or Tiffanor was a mercenary soldier, perhaps Hessian, who fought for the British during the Revolutionary War. He either deserted or chose to stay in Vermont after the war. Christopher Tiffany married Rebecca Ellis (daughter of Samuel Ellis and Zilpha Hammond, a Mayflower descendant), 23 Mar. 1784, Bennington, Bennington Co., VT. Known children: Betsy, Lovisa/Louisa, Susanna, Sarah/Sally, Mary/Polly, Samuel, Erastus, Rebecca, and Phebe.
His birth year is from 1756-1763. I calculated this year range from the 1800 US Census and his marriage date, i. e., age 21, in 1784.
