Clinton-Alyce R. (Tierney) Hutchins, 94, formerly of 160 Pearl St., died on Thursday, March 06, 2008 in the Beaumont of Northborough after a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of forty nine years, Arthur E. Hutchins who died in 1991. She is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Bedard and her husband Robert of Boylston; a son, Dr. A. Michael Hutchins of Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren, Adam C. Hutchins and his fiancée Alison Cebula of UT; Aidain Hutchins of AZ; Chad C. Bedard of Boylston; and Justin R. Bedard and his companion Rebecca Boucher of Clinton. She leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Mrs. Hutchins is predeceased by her eight brothers and sisters, Michael, Patrick, Annie, Mamie, Mildred, Elizabeth, Evangiline, and Thomas Tierney.
Alyce was born in Clinton to the late Michael and Kathryn (Kittredge) Tierney, attended local schools and was a graduate of Clinton High School. She served as a former secretary to Congressman Philip J. Philbin and was later employed for many years with the former Stewart & Heney Jewlers in Clinton. Mrs. Hutchins was a life member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Clinton, held membership with the Pi Epsilon Sorority and was active among the Clinton Hospital Guild. Alyce held many fond memories of summers with her family in Hampton Beach and thoroughly enjoyed boating. She took great pleasure in gardening and most cherished time spent with her loving family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 11AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton. Burial is to follow in St. John Cemetery, Lancaster.
