Barbara Louise Tibbitts passed away Aug. 16, 2014 in Lake Havasu City. She was born in Long Beach, Calif. June 3, 1930 to father Joseph Hill, mother Lena Knoble, and stepfather Roy Knoble. Barbara grew up in South San Gabriel. As a teenager in the 40s, she loved to lift weights at Muscle Beach. She enjoyed visiting Lake Havasu on weekends.

She moved to Lake Havasu City in 1979 and worked as a waitress at the Roadway Inn and Frigate until she retired in 1997. In her retirement, she loved to garden, travel, go boating, go to the beach and watch her shows. She enjoyed taking vacations with her daughter Teresa and grandkids, going as far as Australia, Acapulco, Hawaii and New York City, and spending time in San Diego. She spent an amazing 80th birthday on Catalina Island. She will be remembered for her forgiveness and her heart of gold.

Barbara is survived by her five children, Teresa Sousa, Tina Sousa, Michelle Lujan, Cynthia Sierra and Norman Betrue Jr.; her seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren with three on the way; her sister Judy DePhillipps and her Chihuahua Rosa.

She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Hill, her mother Lena Knoble, her stepfather Roy Knoble; and her husbands, Norman Betrue, Martin Sousa, Jack Thomas and Edward Tibbitts.

Barbara was a shining example of what a woman should be. You will forever be our strength and courage; we love you mom, and will miss you every day for the rest of our lives.

A visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, with a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

The burial service will be 11 a.m. on Sept. 8 at Holy Cross Cemetery in San Diego.

Arrangements were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
