Charles & Mildred Thumm owned a dude ranch in Elfrida. In the early morning hours of December 4 1977 one of their employees, James Dean Clark, killed two other wranglers, George Martin & Gerald McFerron. He then went up to the house and killed the Thumms. Clark was executed in 1993.
