ROCHESTER - Ellen T. Andrews, 80, of Rochester, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, at her home.
She was born Nov. 5, 1923, in Richmond, Va., the daughter of Marshall H. and Edna (Ross) Throckmorton.
She attended Watkins Glen (N.Y.) High School and received her licensed practical nursing degree from Willard State Hospital of Nursing (N.Y.), where she also worked for several years. She also worked at Buttonwood Hall in Browns Mills, N.J., and was on the support staff for Princeton University until retiring in 1978.
She was married to Norman Andrews in Burlington on Dec. 5, 1953. They moved to Rochester in 1996. Mr. Andrews died in 2001.
Mrs. Andrews attended the Pittsfield Federated Church, was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Island Chapter of South Hero, Daughters of the Nile in Trenton, N.J., and the Odessa Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, hiking, metal detecting, backpacking and reading.
Surviving are her daughters, Marjorie Eaton of Hancock, Connie Berry of Lake City, Fla., and Janet Chmura of Trenton, N.J.; her brother, Edward Koontz of Elmira, N.Y.; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph Yaw.
Private funeral services were held at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph. Private burial was at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center.
