Mrs. Ina J. Thrift Bennett, 78, died Saturday morning (January 9, 2010) at Grady General Hospital of Cairo, GA following a brief illness.
She was a native of Waycross but had made her home in Cairo since 1972. She was the daughter of the late William Harley Thrift and Vonice E. Kight Thrift Pittman and the wife of the late James R. "Bobby" Bennett, Sr. She was also preceded in death by a son, Leslie Allen Bennett. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three daughters, Velda Simpson (husband DeWayne) of Cairo, Gail Williams (husband Vick) of Cairo, and Debra Robertson (husband Dean) of Pelham; three sons, James R. Bennett, Jr. (wife Sara) of Cairo, Joseph H. Bennett of Cairo and Timothy L. Bennett of Cairo. Grandchildren, Johnny Bennett, Lorinda Bennett, Kimberly Simpson, Betsy Hunziker, Jamie Johnson, Shannon Johnson, Josh Robertson, Kristen Bennett, and Timothy Bennett, Jr.; Great grandchildren, Jacob Bennett, Joseph Bennett, Daisy Bennett, Cameron Hunziker, and Grace Hunziker.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday (January 11, 2010) at the Clark Funeral Home in Cairo.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday (January 12, 2010) at Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:00 Tuesday at the cemetery.
