Ella Thrift Jernigan, 65 (b. c1915), died Monday (16 Feb 1976) after an extended illness.
A native of the area that is now Brantley County, she was a daughter of the late Belonie "Lone" or "Blone" Thrift and Emily Jane "Janie" McBee Thrift. She lived most of her life in Ware County and was a member of Glad Tidings Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert S. Jernigan of Waycross; one son, Horace S. Jernigan of Waycross; two sisters, Della Bryant of Richmond Hill, Julie Herrin of Nahunta; four brothers, Luke Thrift, Pat Thrift and Sam Thrift, all of Waycross, and Wiley Thrift of Woodbine; five grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Glad Tidings Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Ralph Walker officiating.
Burial was in Kettle Creek Cemetery near Waycross.
Pallbearers were Eddy, Thrift, Giles Bowers, James Thomas, Edward Brand and Waco Numez.
Miles-Odum Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
