Alice A. Brockberg, 77, Slayton, died Saturday, March 26, 2005 at her home.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 30 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Slayton, with Rev. John T. Stern officiating.
Her family served as pallbearers.
Interment was in Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton.
Alice A. Brockberg was born on Oct. 19, 1927 on a farm in Rock County near Hardwick, to Harry and Ella Lamp Thorson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Blue Mound Lutheran Church.
She grew up on the family farm and attended country school District #48 and graduated from Luverne High School in 1945. She worked as a telephone operator in the Twin Cities.
She married LeRoy Brockberg on April 11, 1948 at St. John's Lutheran Church at Trosky. Following their marriage they lived in Pipestone until 1975 when they moved to Slayton. Alice worked in the kitchen at West Elementary School for four years and at the Murray County Fair for 14 summers.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and belonged to the Ladies Aid and previously belonged to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Pipestone. She also belonged to the Pipestone Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, LeRoy, Slayton; five children, Tom (Cheryl), Mankato; Jim (Bonnie), West Des Moines, Iowa; Bill, Plymouth; Faye (Bill) Mollenhauer, Andover and Mark (Kristi), LaCrosse, Wisc.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Wally (Lois) Thorson and one sister-in-law, Emma Thorson, Luverne.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harley Thorson.
