A memorial service for Sheldon E. Thorson will be held Friday, June 1, at 10 a.m., at the Holiday Inn-Riverside, Minot. A celebration of Sheldon's life will follow the memorial service.
Sheldon grew up in Minot and attended school here. He graduated from Minot High School in 1948 and served nine months in the Marine Corps.
He received his degree in mechanical engineering from the General Motors Institute in Flint, Mich. During his career, he was awarded seven patents.
He married Vivian Mouratis in 1951 and together they had four children. His home for most of his adult life was in Pleasanton, Calif.
