Charlotte L. Arthur, 83, of Kankakee, passed away Sunday (July 1, 2012) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. She was born Oct. 28, 1928, in Bode, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Irene (Halsrud) Thorson. Her husband, Harry Arthur, whom she married June 6, 1948, at Norwegian Lutheran Church in Herscher, passed away Jan. 12, 2012.
Mrs. Arthur worked at the family business, Arthur Motor Works, for many years. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Downie Circle and served as past president of United Methodist Women. She was also involved with many organizations such as Kankakee Valley Porcelain Artist Guild, Sons of Norway and Home Community Education (HCE). Charlotte enjoyed many years watching her grandchildren play sports. Some of the hobbies she enjoyed were crafting, playing bridge, crocheting, knitting, china painting and flower gardening.
Surviving are three sons, Gary Arthur, of Arizona, Lonnie (Krisann) Arthur, of Bourbonnais, and Kevin (Rhonda) Arthur, of Bradley; two daughters, Karen (Dennis) Lard, of Colorado, and Linda Dote, of Arizona; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Arnold (Marilyn) Thorson, of Kankakee.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A gathering time for family and friends will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Schreffler Life Story Funeral Homes, Kankakee Chapel. A viewing will be from 10 a.m. Saturday at Asbury United Methodist Church until the 11 a.m. funeral services.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens, Aroma Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family wishes.
